Halloween Pirate

A Halloween Pirate is a favourite costume of children young and old every year. As Captain Corbin the magical pirate, I’m always very busy around Halloween pirate entertaining and playing with children. This coming halloween I’ll be all over the province entertaining, but I am most looking forward to a wonderful Halloween Pirate cruise in Gravenhurst Ontario

Halloween Pirate Cruise

As a professional performing Pirate I’m always looking ahead and have recently booked my summer season in Gravenhurst performing pirate cruises on the Wenonah II from the Muskoka Steamship association. Every year (and so far it’s been 12) I perform on the Wenonah in Gravenhurst I write a brand new script for the show. As well over 60% of our guests are repeat I want to make it special for them every year. This year I came up with a fun show. I call it “the best ship on the lake”. It may be full of treasure, or we can take it over. After a 2 hour cruise and no luck the confused Captain Corbin discovers with the help of the children that the best ship is Friendship and he makes all his friends Honorary pirates. Yeah, it’s corny but it’s cute and fun and we will have a blast.

A new pirate cruise

As we were working on the summer plans I was asked to develop a halloween pirate cruise. Something brand new! I was very excited, but had no idea what to plan. As a result, I asked what else was planned for the day. I was told a barbecue, a costume parade led by me to the dock and a pirate cruise. With that to work with, I began to think. I definitely wanted something different from the summer season. And it had to be fun.

A perfect Pirate poem

Witches and warlocks dressed to amuse, join us for our halloween cruise. Trick or treating will start as each of you enter, our creepily decorated discovery center. Then hungry young monsters will enjoy a feast, of hot dogs, hamburgers and barbecued beast. A pirate will march you down the boardwalk, to take over a ship tied up at the dock. A haunted and hilarious pirate adventure, ends at Gravenhurst wharf with the pirates surrender.

Sounds like fun

I came up with the poem and it sure makes the event sound like fun. I can’t wait till October to perform. Head to realmuskoka.com for information and tickets today.

March Break Magic shows

This March Break Magic Shows are very popular and I’ll be performing a lot. I am Captain Corbin the magical pirate. I tour all over North America with my incredibly fun pirate themed magic shows. This March Break I will be performing at schools, libraries museums and more. Each show will be very different, Unique and full of incredible magic. I hope to see you there!

March Break Magic Shows with a pirate theme

I perform pirate themed magic shows. My shows are full of family friendly magic, pirate hi-jinks, nautical nonsense and much more. I call them Pirate adventures and the children and adults in the audience love them! Even though, my presentations seem like children’s entertainment – the adults will have a blast as well! I get everyone involved with lots of audience participation and many children and parents come onstage to assist. An interactive pirate themed magic show for the whole family!

An Experienced pirate who’s traveled the world!

Shiver me timbers, I’ve been everywhere Man! For the past 25 years I’ve been performing all over North America, from Orlando to Chicago, Toronto to Minneapolis. I’ve even traveled to the Middle East to work! As a result I’ve become highly skilled at entertaining all kinds of audiences. My shows are very inclusive and fun, boys and girls join in and assist during the show. Most of the time they are the ones on stage doing the magic and Captain Corbin has a difficult time.

A wacky pirate looking for treasure

My shows are customized to suit your event and venue. However they are all family friendly and a lot of fun. Most often Captain Corbin has visited your event looking for treasure with no luck. As a result, he’s gathered the crowd to help him out. During the show the children help The Captain discover that the treasure to be found is something other then silver and gold. During his Reading treasures show at libraries the treasure is often discovered to be the books. As a result the show is educational and shares a positive message

Entertaining and Educational March Break Magic shows

Captain Corbin’s magic shows are often educational as well as entertaining. During March break many of his shows have additional educational themes to them. At the Chatham-kent libraries in Ontario Captain Corbin will be performing his Reading treasures show. The Reading treasures show is a pirate themed magic show with a literacy message. many of the magic tricks used during the program have reading or spelling required. During the show the importance of reading is expressed and the children leave with the message that reading is a treasure. Children learn best when it’s presented in a fun way. Captain Corbin’s show are a lot of fun and the messages are remembered long after the event has past.

Oceans of Magic water conservation show

One of my most popular march break magic shows is called Oceans of Magic. This pirate themed magic show is full of science type magic tricks using water. However during the show the subject of water conservation is discussed. Children are taught tricks they can perform at home with water. As a result, the message of water conservation is brought home with them. Often during the summer months this show has an additional lesson of water safety. Lessons such as swimming with a buddy, and not swimming alone are discussed. A very important show for venues around bodies of water. Peel Art galleries in Ontario will be hosting some March Break magic shows.

March Break magic shows sell out fast, so booking early is highly recommended. This coming march break still has some availability left. However, they won’t be available for long.

Robot Pirate attracts crowds

I am Captain Corbin the magical pirate. My Robot Pirate is a huge attraction at fairs and festivals. I am also a magician. Performing incredible pirate adventure magic shows at events all over North America. As a result, my Pirate themed magic shows are full of family friendly fun, and audience participation. All year long I perform at fairs, Festivals and special events.

Roger, the Robot Pirate attracts crowds

Roger is an animatronic talking robot Pirate skull. He has two “homes”. He lives in a pirate treasure chest or a large oak barrel. During Roger’s shows he pops in and out of the Barrel to talk with the children. When Captain Corbin is on stage during a magic show, Roger often pops out of his barrel to the children’s delight. Roger the robot pirate skull interrupts the show and “annoys” the Captain Corbin by telling corny pirate jokes or just commenting on the show. Roger’s main job in the show is to bestow pirate names to the children who come onstage to assist. He gives them funny pirate names and tells them how to be a pirate.

Between shows Roger is often onstage still talking to the children who walk past. Quite an attraction, he gets attention and a lot of pictures. At Fairs and Festivals across the country he is often the attraction guests remember for a long time. A robot Pirate with a great sense of humor.

Building a Pirate from scratch

Roger the animatronic Robot Pirate was built over a period of 6 months. I designed him from the ground up and combined many different elements until he worked perfectly. A talking skull with moving eyes, jaws who speaks. It’s all remote operated, but to the children it’s real magic. Roger the Robot pirate skull is great fun and often surprises people when he pops out of his pirate barrel to Yarr at the children. Roger the Robot Pirate can travel all over and entertain at your event. You can see Roger on a regular basis this summer performing on the stony lake pirate cruises as well as occasionally at Storybook Gardens in London Ontario

Pirate magician performs Tiki show

Ahoy all,

Yarr as a pirate magician, I really enjoy performing my pirate themed magic shows at schools, libraries and theatres all over North America. My shows are always very interactive and fun. Often I like to add an additional theme to my shows to mix it up and thrill the groups. Over the years I’ve performed shows with educational magic shows, with reading themes and winter themed pirate shows. I also like adding fun themes to my shows such as my Tiki themed pirate magic show. The tiki themed show I call Captain Corbin’s Tiki Troubles show. And I’ve created a whole storyline and plot to go along with the show. It’s not just a magic show, its a pirate adventure show, very similar to a Saturday morning children’s television show and the kids love it.

During the Tiki Troubles show, Captain Corbin the pirate magician shows the children a tiki statue he found on one of his troubles. The statue is supposed to Guard a treasure, but it also has a curse! The show progresses with the Captain trying to get the treasure on his own, but everything goes wrong. He realizes the curse happens when he tries to do things on his own, so he gets the children’s help. When Captain Corbin works together with his friends, he breaks the curse and the Tiki gives up his gold. It’s a great show with the message of working together!

This show is full of magic, and great props and decorations. The tiki statues look great and the stage is often set with tropical backgrounds and floral garlands. I even bring out a volcano! (it’s just a vertical fog machine, but it looks great!)

Once a year you can see me perform a short version of this show on stage at Storybook Gardens. The full show lasts apox. 45min. long, but at storybook gardens in London the show is slimed down to a 30min set.

and of course at the end of the show Captain Corbin shares all his tiki gold with the kids!

Reading Treasures literacy based pirate themed magic show a hit at libraries across Canada

Entertaining and educational magic shows are always a big hit at libraries and schools across Ontario and Canada. Captain Corbin  the magical pirate enjoys customizing his shows to add that educational aspect. Reading treasures is a pirate themed magic show with a lot of literacy based magic effects in the show. The pirate Captain Corbin uses his pirate magic book and gets the children involved in the show helping him. During the interactive pirate magic show Children’s entertainer Corbin has all kinds of fun with magic. Magic tricks that involve spelling, reading and literacy is the focus of the show and all the children learn that reading is a Treasure! Captain Corbin tells the children that books are just like treasure chests, when you open both you find the treasure inside. With books, the story inside is the treasure. All the children have a lot of fun and make memories that last a long, long time. Having Captain Corbin come to your school or library is a sure fire way to put a smile on every Childs face. During March Break 2019 Captain Corbin will be sailing to the Chatham-kent libraries to perform his Reading Treasures show for all the children there. Magic pirate strolling close up magic show wandering pirate character Captain Corbin

A strolling magic show performance is a lot different from a magic and illusion show on stage. There is less work setting up the show, as with a strolling performance I’m ready as soon as I’m in costume. A stage show however is not better or worse then the strolling wandering magic show, it’s just different. A strolling magic show performance is perfect for events where there is a lot going on, the attendees are all over a wide area, there is no performance stage or many other reasons. Recently I performed my strolling pirate magic show in St. Thomas Ontario at the Joe thorton community centre arena.

A magic and illusion show may take over an hour to set up the show. preparing equipment, sound systems, curtains etc. A strolling performance is almost good to go as soon as I arrive. When I recently performed in St. Thomas I was able to walk right into the event and begin as soon as I marched in the doors. And I did march in. I marched in to pirate music! Before I arrived on sight I stopped nearby for lunch and was able to change into my pirate shirt. That allowed me to be able to quickly hop out of my vehicle and put on the accessories in the parking lot. My pirate sash, hat and baldric was all I needed. When I stroll around the event performing magic I like to have a table to travel with me to perform on. It’s not required, but it helps when I want to show more formal pieces of close up magic. After experimenting with a variety of smaller tables I decided authenticity counts and I now use a huge 60 gallon oak wine barrel on wheels! this thing is big and to see a pirate pushing around a huge barrel is quite a site. The barrel also has a door which allows me to fill it with my equipment and a small sound system. Something I would not be able to do with a smaller table. So in the parking lot of the Joe thorton community center I finish my costume, remove my barrel from the vehicle, turn on my sound system which plays nautical themed music and I push the unit up to and through the front doors making quite the entrance as a pirate with great background magic. After my grand entrance the performance begins and I wander around the room performing my incredible close up magic on top of my barrel and in the spectators hands. Strolling pirate magic makes a huge impression and creates fun memories that will last a very very long time!

A tropical pirate Christmas holiday magic show

This weekend I’ve been “sailing” all over North America with my tropical pirate themed Christmas magic show. What does a pirate do in the winter? Well, Santa may rest in the summer, but a pirate never rests. I’ve been performing my Christmas pirate shows all over the place. Magic shows with a pirate theme are a lot of fun at Christmas parties and special events. Why have a normal magician when you can liven up your employee holiday party with a bit of pirate magic fun? My holiday corporate pirate magic shows are full of interactive pirate magic and Christmas themed magic. My pirate magic sword turns into a candy cane, my first mate becomes a frozen snowman and at the end of the show instead of a magic Christmas tree, Captain Corbin puts out his Christmas barrel which magically fills with all his Christmas wishes, a long red and green garland of jewels, lots of root beer and of course gold, which he immediately throws out to the audience.

This past weekend I performed for childcan Canada in London Ontario.

The show for Childcan went very well. It was the first time they had a large magic show at their holiday party. I had performed for them at the Highland golf club in London Ontario last year as well, but at the time I only performed my strolling or table hopping magic entertaining the children. They loved it so much they had me back for the full magic show this past weekend. I must admit I think I surprised them with how awesome the show went. Upon arrival the first thing I always do is set up my music. At a Christmas party instead of pirate music for pre show warm up, I play some of the most popular Christmas classics to get everyone in the mood. This was the first surprise for the client. The music always adds a lot to an event and it’s often the last thing people think about. During my show the music switches to an instrumental nautical themed background noise and the performance begins. I remember the organizers ushering the children to me for the show, then wandering off. A few minutes after I began the show however, everything seemed to stop and all the adults began gathering around my audience to watch. That was another surprises as they did not expect my show would be interesting to them, but of course it always is. A professional magic show that is family friendly and interesting to all ages. At the end of the performance I received many positive comments and was immediately booked for next year. If you’ve never had a pirate magician at your holiday parties I would highly recommend it! Tons of fun, Ahoy!
